Job Summary:

Report for the World (RFW) is a global service journalism program that matches independent local newsrooms with talented journalist who cover critical beats including health, environment, gender, education, labor, disinformation and criminal justice.  RFW launched in February 2021 and expanded to Brazil in September 2021, with a total of 15 reporters.  With early support from the MacArthur Foundation, Google News Initiative and Microsoft, RFW doubled the size of the program to 30 reporters in eight countries in 2022, with the larger goal of supporting 500 reporters worldwide by 2026.

We seek a thoughtful, enterprising, collaborative Assistant Program Manager who will work closely with the Global Director and the core team at RFW.  This person will also engage with teammates across The GroundTruth Project, home of Report for the World and its sister initiative Report for America.


  • Administer contracts, payments and renewals at RFW in coordination with the finance department
  • Maintain consistent relationships with RFW partner newsroom and corps members
  • Coordinate events, workshops, and collaborations
  • Conduct research on potential partners, fundraising opportunities, and training resources for RFW
  • Collect impact and evaluation data related to the program
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Familiar with public service journalism
  • Experienced with coordinating a global program
  • Comfortable using Salesforce, Airtable, and other cloud-based CRM platforms
  • Familiar with basic financial concepts and processes
  • Fluent in at least 2 languages - Arabic or French desirable
  • Comfortable with occasional travel to countries where RFW corps members are located
  • Developing new tools and processes at RFW

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of three years of related experience required

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
